Waystone Team take on 500km cycle from Dublin to London to raise vital funds for sick children
On the morning of Tuesday, 19th September, a motivated team of fifteen cyclists embarked from Crumlin on an exciting challenge from Dublin to Paris to fundraise for sick children in Children’s Health Ireland hospitals and urgent care centres and Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity ahead of next year’s Friendship Ball.
Led by Waystone’s Cyril Delamare from London and David Morrisey and Connor McGuinness, from Dublin, this five-day adventure saw the team challenging themselves physically and mentally as they travelled across Europe and cover over 700km. With over €100k raised to date, the funds raised from the cycle will support sick children and their families across Ireland and the UK.
Hugh Kane, Interim Chief Executive of Children’s Health Foundation said “The Friendship Ball will mark the sixth event, supporting sick children both in Ireland and the UK. Support from this event brings real long-term impact for sick children and their families and ensures they continue to have access to world-class facilities that will change young lives for the better.
We are tremendously grateful to Cyril and the team at Waystone for taking on this mighty cycling challenge to raise vital funds and we wish the entire team the very best of luck and a safe journey as they take to the road. Bon voyage!”
Cyril Delamare of Waystone and Chair of the Friendship Ball said, “The Friendship ride team is delighted and proud to have smashed our fund-raising target which now has reached over 140,000 euros! Thank you to all our generous supporters who know that these funds will be used to support critically ill children and support them on their way to recovery.”
