Staff from St. Michael's C Ward take on Skydive challenge

St. Michael's C Skydive

This April staff members from St. Michael’s C ward in CHI at Temple Street will take part in an amazing fundraiser, they will be doing a skydive to raise funds for the Renal unit – this unit cares for children with kidney disorders.

In total there are sixteen staff members taking up the challenge, they make up the multi-disciplinary team who care for the patients in the Renal unit, and they all want to raise money for the unit that they love.

The team on St. Michael’s C Ward in CHI at Temple Street were inspired to take on this fundraising challenge because they see the direct impact that fundraising makes in their day-to-day work on the busy ward and Renal Unit. Fundraising has contributed to many areas in the unit, from equipment to play therapy, innovative technology to education, it supports the patients, their families, and the staff.

The Renal unit is the national paediatric nephrology and transplantation department, it provides care for children on dialysis and kidney transplant patients. Patients attending the Renal unit are referred from all over the country and have varying renal conditions. St. Michael C’s also cares for children with diabetes who require admission.

Some patients will attend from diagnosis right up until they move to adult services, the staff get to know these patients and their families really well and want to do all that they can to support them.

As a team they have challenged themselves to a Skydive in April to raise vital funds for their ward and for their wonderful patients. You can support them by clicking on the link: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/RenalTeamSkydive
