Children’s Health Foundation launches 24th Trick or Treat for sick children!
Children’s Health Foundation are calling on individuals, families, schools, and community groups to embrace their inner monster and host a Trick or Treat for sick children Halloween party. This wonderful campaign is in its 24th year and has helped sick children throughout Ireland.
There is no greater worry for any parent than having their child in hospital or under hospital care. Knowing that their child will receive the very best medical attention with life-saving equipment is the only consolation, at what can be the darkest time in their lives. Parents like Maria, mother of Méabh, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour at the age of just three. She spent a total of 30 weeks in Children’s Health Ireland at Temple Street.
Hosting a Trick or Treat party helps to raise vital funds that go towards buying world-class equipment, providing therapies for patients like play, music and pet, putting supports in place for families, particularly of long-stay patients, and much more. That’s why gathering your pupils, friends and family, work colleagues and club members is so important, so please go that extra mile and support sick children this year.
When you sign up at www.childrenshealth.ie/trickortreat to host a Trick or Treat party, you will receive our wonderful pack which includes stickers, bunting, posters, a collection box and a tablecloth.
Maria says, ” Even though it was so lonely at times you were never alone. There was always someone there to pick you up. We will be forever grateful for the amazing people inside Children’s Health Ireland at Temple Street. There are no words to describe just how wonderful the staff are. They are so patient and so caring and so invested in the care of their patients. Every day they go above and beyond to ensure those in their care are so well minded”.
Speaking about the ‘Trick or Treat for sick children’ campaign, Fionnuala O’Leary, Chief Executive of Children’s Health Foundation, said, “We are delighted to be launching this hugely successful campaign once again. We are very grateful to all our Trick or Treaters nationwide who support this fantastic campaign each year. The involvement of so many schools, crèches, families, communities, and workplaces across Ireland demonstrates just how much people care about sick and injured children in our country. Thank you all – you are truly making a difference in the lives of the hundreds of thousands of children who come through the doors of Children’s Health Ireland hospitals and urgent care centres every year. We are also immensely grateful to MiWadi for their continued incredible support each year.”
Speaking at the launch, Alison Curtis said: “This will be my third year supporting Trick or Treat for sick children and I can’t think of a greater cause. Please, I urge you, if you’ve never supported this incredible campaign before, let this be the first of many.
